Erokamano…feeling grateful

Me I’m just happy I can feel my toes. And fingers.

Now that I can feel my fingers, let me give out ‘flowers’ yajowa.

Erokamano Nyarboro.

Mummy taught us a lot, but a lot of what we learned, she did not teach, she embodied. The one thing this Texas winter storm reminded me of, is when THAT “gimoro nonyisa” gut feeling comes up, pay attention. Pay attention well well; especially when the whispers begin to feel like an ancestor added you to a WhatsApp group and assumed you would read the messages. And just like the other 21 whatsapp groups you stumbled into, you just marked as read but didn’t really read; you have to do this to keep the message notification number from disturbing your mental peace.

Anyway, that mind that says, ‘check your off-grid survival kit’ right before a winter storm, is someone on the other side looking out for you.

Freezing Temperature, Power Outage and Water Shortage

Millions of Texans experienced water shortage because low temperatures damaged infrastructure and froze water pipes. …na ujinga tu mob.

February 2021

Mum, a flower for you.

What we learned from you, came through in the buckets that we quickly filled with water when we sensed that kumeumana. It came through in how we embodied ubuntu; we survived with all pachorians not just carrying more than their weight but also deliberately keeping spirits high. Thank you pachorians! A flower for each of you.

We made it work exactly how you make it work; off-the-gridically. And those your prayers proved that you have a direct line to God and you must be on the same whatsapp group with mama Maria.

This week, I am especially grateful, for light and wifi.

It’s black history month so wacha I give flowers to Phillip Emeagwali, Lewis Latimer and Garrett Morgan. Here’s to these great inventors and to those that loved on them into their genius. #ubuntu

Erokamano for this kind internet.

OGA Phillip Emeagwali...oshe oh. I like to connect….being disconnected this week was not cool. Thank you for that formula that ensured we can vent and connect online fast fast.

That solution for your equations…genius!

Random question, are you still solving 100 math problems everyday?

Erokamano for light

Mr Lewis Latimer, that carbon filament, wacha tu! After this week, I’m now noticing it in every bulb and it’s beautiful. I’m on Tiktok and without that filament, I can’t produce. It’s hard to explain but that’s my therapy.

By the way what do you think about the way we distribute energy? Are you surprised that we are still here? I’m so curious. kuna venye….

Erokamano for street lights

Mr. Garrett Morgan, this week we were reminded that when people are in a crisis, courtesy is thrown out the window.  Thank you so much for hooking us up with traffic lights; they make life so easy especially because so many are driving while sitting on their brains.

By the way, we are still using sewing machines; well, I am….. thank you.

And guess what, we are all wearing masks, not yours but, you know….it’s for a virus not smoke. I’m sure you got the memo by now.

Thank you to the winter gods for coming to take your winter back
